Cruise control
I to was looking at the Audiovox? on Ebay. Here's a dumb%%# question, does anyone think that it could somehow be adapted to an old Tourglide with a S&S carb??. or am I dreaming?. I would love to adapt an electonic cruise to this old bike. Just took an 1100 mile trip over 4 days last weekend & thought my throttle hand was going to fall off!!. About 1/2 Hr at Interstate speeds is my limit then have to set the lock **** & let my hand recover. Anyway interesting reading on this thrd. (I know the alternative is to buy a new RG! not in my near future!) Thanks
the first thing i would is pull the speedo and check to see if the speedo has the opening forthe reed switch as i believe the speedos are the same as my 89 ultra and your flhs
second is the carb, does it have a pin for the cruise cable if you go the oem route
the wiring harness you have to make not to bad of a job
finding the cruise servo, used e bay no big deal. Harley made a kit to upgrade my 89 to the newer servo setup which was a nice kit as it gave me the brackets and all the cables for the bell crank set up but i had a carb off a 99 fl so those cables hit the trash had to modifiy a newer cable. All told can it be done yes sorta sounds like a winter project

You can't go wrong with the audiovox. I have a '97 Low Rider. could not find an electronic cruise control anywhere. dealer told me "you can't put one on a dyna". I installed a Rostra (maker of Audiovox). Works great. Don't have any shots of it. But, it is a simple install. true - you need a speed sensor ($20.00) because Harley will not tell you anything about the speed sensor, especially the pulses per mile. They know what you're talking about, they're just not talking. I also purchased a "matchbox" switch and mounted just under the left side turn signal switch. The switch is identical to the switch used on Victory Motorcycle cruise controls. The speed sensor and switch are also made my Rostra. My speed signal is located on my swingarm and have to look for it to see it. BTW, I mounted the cruise control module on the left side of the swingarm, encased in a tool kit-looking leather bag.

Oh, never mind, I'll post links to my web site where I can store these...
Here's the manual for the older Audiovox system, the CCS-100 that needs the vacuum reservoir. Most of the examples of cruise control systems installed on bikes that you can find with Google used this model kit, which I think is still available.

And this is the newer, all-electronic cruise control manual.

Thanks Man for showing the installation manuals! looks fairly complicated, especially the hook up to the throttle plate. Will check out my bike this weekend to see if I could mount the components. Also I called the guy at Autovideo4me he read off the part #'s needed to make it work, such as the 5 magnets & pickup. I'm not sure how well this would work, don't know if this would affect the ballancing of the wheel & tire??. Anyway I may try it later next month, (winter project), spent to much $$$ on the bike this past month. Anyway thanks for the info!

I'm thinking I'm going to try it too.
You know, you were right. I tried this for a few trips in the past few weeks and it works great to relieve stress from the hand. I think I'll stick to that for the time being.
