Default Ignition Help...PLEASE!!!

Howdy all. I have a 1990 FXR. A while back, I was riding down the highway and my voltage regulator went out. It spiked real high and blew out a lot of my electronics. I've replaced the voltage regulator, the coil, the battery, and I've replaced the original ignition module with a dyna s. I am still not getting any spark in the plugs. The bike will crank, but no fire. Any ideas what else could be causing this? On the coil there are two posts. One gets the hot wire from the ignition and the white wire from the dyna s. The other post gets the blue wire from the dyna s and there is another wire there too. Does anyone know where this other wire leads to? Please help. I need to get my scoot running again.

If the other wire is pink its a tacho feed. No spark might be the pick up gone west.

Have you checked the ignition pick up in the nose cone?

Tex, the dyna s is the pickup.

Installation and troubleshoot instructions.

I believe Tex is referring to your Cam Sensor, located in the nose cone. That's what picks up the cam signal to send to the ig mod, which in turn sends it to the coil.

Is that correct, Tex?

i think what he means is the dyna s is a nose cone ignition and the pick up and mod are all one unit

If I had to GUESS, I would say that you either wired up the new ignition wrong or it is bad. I would also try leaving the tach wire off at the coil until it is running. What is the voltage on the negative side of the coil with the power on but not running? What is the voltage on the positive side (same)?

Oh, and I kinda don't like League City. I lived there 6 years in The Landing while going to UTMB. You can microwave a potato by putting it on your dash board and driving down 518, from the PoPo's radar guns.

Leave the blue wire on and remove the other one, it's the tach wire and it is probably grounding out the impulse from the Dyna. Take the wire you took off and hook it to the tach wire from the Dyna (pink). Hope this helps.

If you have a dual fire coil make sure the dyna s is set to dual fire and vise versa for a single fire coil
