back fires thru carb
I got my 93 softail runnin good but when you park it sometimes it backfires through the carb. I replaced the slide an diaphram an accellerator diaphram, cleaned all the jets an passages an float needle tip. starts an runs well, idles well, just gets a backfire when I shut it down.

What octane gas are you running thru? Dealership put 87 in when I picked it up after buying and it did that when I shut it down almost every time that first tank. Now with 92 it hasn't happened. My old corvette will do it too if it doesn't get high test when on road trip and po dunk stations only have 87.

Hummm....the dude that checked my carb dialed the idle up, wondering if it's enough to kick in the advance. I backed it down, hope that helps.

Doe sit do the problem on decelleration? if so then what size Pilot Jet are you running. I ran one that was too lean .45 and the backfireing blew up the slider completley! Fitted a .48 and all is well now.
