Default Possible 1993 FLHTP Restoration

Needless to say I have some money in my pocket to spend come this winter, I love bikes, come from a riding family and only a girl friend to answer to. This would be the 3rd one in the fleet to company my FXSTI and ZX-14.

I am REALLY eyeing up a 1993 FLHTP but the thing is a heap. Based on NADA is worth $1,230 but me personally I would not give the family anymore than $1,000 for everything that's needed. I have been in contact with the family and advised them of my interest but haven't discussed any numbers yet. The prior owner died, not on the bike, and the bike has been sitting at a local shop for almost two years.

Top half of the motor is off because the top end needed some minor parts. Every piece of body has been either scratched, dented, cracked, bent and will need to be painted. Chrome doesn't matter because anything that is chrome is going bye bye except the chrome engine kit and even that might not make it so I can black/blue out the engine. Everything else is getting painted gloss black or blue depeding on the paint scheme I decide on. Frame also will need to be painted since the motor is pretty much already out, has a very few minor rust spots.

Stretched bags and actual stretched rear fender (none of that rear fender cover suff) from Bad Dad Bags, 2 into 1 exhaust by Supertrapp, solo seat for it already has a two up on it and I hate riding alone with a two up seat, adding biketronics kit for tunes, LED's in headlamp, passing, signal and to light up the bike. I'm leaning towards a better air suspension but that will be a later date.

Goal is to get the big stuff done while is torn down. I have a parts list around 5k - 5.5k to get it back where it needs to be using the parts listed above. I could have an early 2000's TC but I want an EVO due to how dependable they are. I'm hoping to come out with a Street Glide looking bike. The shop it's at I know personally and they will allow me to put in my owe wrench time (within reason) so save me some labor so I won't get raked over the coals. No dealer build here strictly Indy cus the dealer won't touch an Evo that late.

Think I'm wasing my time or say go for it? Any input would help and is appreciated. I know there people out there who have been in it longer then I have and wouldn't mind if they would share their widsom with me.

Ride Safe,
Dobbs

Ok , sounds like a very big project with very big bucks , if you have the inclination , time , and money , any project is doable .
Besides what you listed ... i would take a long look at the bottom half of the motor as you say the top half has been removed . Who knows what has spilled or crawled into it .?
