After some head scratching I finally solicited some outside help with the tuning issues I was experiencing with my ecm swap.
Luck was with me when I contacted forum member "shovelhead FXEF"...without his help I would taken a long and twisted route. Seems my S&S VFI module was missing some critical literature which "shovelhead" pointed out and provided. Members like these are the staple of a great forum...always ready and willing to provide support and knowledge when called upon.
The missing link in my case was the procedure to re-calibrate the TPS. Anyone attempting to use this software for the first time please make sure you have this info beforehand...it will save a lot of grief and frustration.
It became evident that I had a very early module with a serial port...newer versions use a usb port. We made an attempt to re-write a serial map with usb data, but so far it looks like there is a glitch in the process. I will make fuel adjustments manually a little at a time and make a finished map available on the S&S site for my current mods. Preliminary road tests to begin in the morning.

Contact S&S with any technical queries. They should be able to help upgrade software and hardware, now that you have a handle on what kit you currently have, courtesy of Shovelhead.
Tackling EFI with calibrations or adding tuners is intense and golden to have a experianced user at hand, members on here that go out of their way to help will continue to make this the best EVO forum around, hats off for taking on the installation and Shovel for being there.
On related issues, a very vital part of setting up a Power Commander is firstly calibrating the TPS or it does some strange stuff and related to being in your shoes, I guided a relative thru a TTS Mastertune install on his new SG and my relative who is a very calm person turned into a pacing father to be with terets and I threw some O-No's, O-O's, crap, this hasn't never happened before just to have some fun with him, cruel but funny.
Yes, this software is somewhat foreign to me...I am more comfortable with the SE Pro Race software. From the ride home from work this evening it became apparent I have more work to do with the cold idle stepping and low rpm/idle settings in general. Everywhere else it is pretty much spot on.

If you can explain this procedure, or post a link to it, that may help someone in the future.

There is no link to the literature that I know of...it is part of the instructions you get with the VFI module. In my case it seems I had a very early model which did not include this in the packaging. I know both the latest S&S and Harley version's include this along with the software. I always end up with the ancient stuff lol.
Rick, thanks for the positvie comments. I agree this forum is loaded with quality peaple who love thier 2 & 3 wheeled American iron and are willing to help out. A MM bike often gets a lot of ridicule because of inherent problems that occur when they get some miles on them. The S&S ECM is a nice replacement for the MM unit. So much so that Harley sells it as a direct service replacement. During MM years Harley recieved so much slack over the MM stuff because it is so tempermental and the fact it's foriegn. Can't say i blame all the criticism because the American Delphi is better. The S&S is a somewhat Delphi based protocal that works with the MM TB. Good news is your bike is running good under throttle. Idle funtions are tempermental but can be easily set. TPS sensor base, hot and cold positions are critical to set proper A/F ratios for idle. Especially since this system is basically open loop. Anybody using S&S ECM VFI can go to their website, under tech info, instructions, print off 510-0009 for proper TB initial set up. Serial VFI guys, you need a little more patience because the older units don't have quite the broad paramiters as the USB units. Keep in mind, idle screw sets are fractional. Very little turns of the screws make big adjustments.
After many attempts we have come to the conclusion that I have a bad TPS, a defective module, or a combination of both. It simply will not hold a setting. I have another TPS ordered and will try it before doing a warranty thru S&S on the module. If it ends up being the module hopefully the replacement will be a usb-port variety.
Good news - S&S VFI is up and running now. The problem stemmed from a bad initial TPS voltage setting...the most critical setting as it turned out because all ecm calculations are based off that setting.
