Default Evo front suspension

Another query for you knowledgable peeps:

My newly acquired 94/95 Fatboy was customised by Warrs (the UKs oldest Harley dealer) in about 2001.

One of the things they did was fit a 150 wide Harley tyre, without any other mods to the wheel.....so even with the wheel tracking out it still rubbed on the belt! Luckily the bike has only done a few miles since then! (about 2000 miles in 11 years!)

I digress, my actual query is they also lowered the bike.
I want to get it back to standard height, so.....do I just need to buy some correct length springs (possibly progressive?) and fit them?

Is it that simple? And is that an easy procedure on these bikes? ( i've done it on my Triumph)

I assume I'll also have to adjust the softail suspension too? Or will they have changed the units?

You can adjust the lowering shocks to give you a stock height (or close enogh), and adjust the preload from there.
Or you can spend the $400 on Progressives
Or buy stock shocks off E-bay $40. maybe
Or if you've got the money go with Shot-Gun Shocks $1500. before shipping

I was looking at these:

http://www.grizzlyscustombikes.co.uk...od_112523.html

I assume these will lift the front end back up. It is currently about 3" lower than standard.

There're not $400 and in the UK.

I misunderstood, I thought you only had to lift the rear. I'm sure there are take offs for your front end. I just bought some standard fork springs for my 94' Softail 68.00 + shipping = 75.00.
To install is going to be a pita. Easier for me because I just have to remove forks and swap springs. You are going to have to remove forks plus seperate uppers from lowers to remove the extra dampener springs.

One of things to be cautious of is what mods may have been done to the damper rod, to get the ride height down low. So as well as springs, you may have to replace other internal parts.

I have only just installed single-rate fork springs from Race Tech, matched to my weight. That is preferable IMHO to progressive-rate springs.

However as a one stop shop call Hagons. They can supply good quality UK made shocks and front springs. They are also close enough to phone or visit! Phone them at the least and talk things through with them, so you get suitable rate springs.

If you go to the Dennis Kirk site, you can see install instructions. There's also video on doing thr install on Youtube. Like I said earlier, You have to seperate the uppers and lowers to remove the dampener rod to remove the extra springs that were installed to lower it.1 spring is stock, second and third were added to lower. first added spring lowers it 1", second added spring lowers it another inch. It's not a job for the non mechnicaly inclined.

For the 150, you will need a narrower belt (OEM = 1.25", narrower = 1.125") and pulley. I did this on my '97 WG.
