6 Speed Trans
So I was on ebay today looking around and Jireh cycles has the Ultima 6 speed Builders kit for $499. Has anyone used this kit? Do you think it would be worth the price? And how hard do you think it would be to install?

Seen this in another thread discussing quality of the made in China product. Anyway, jack it up, pull the starter, outer primary and clutch hub. Slide the rear wheel forward, remove the trap door bolts and pull it with the gear set. Read the instructions really close as you need some large sockets to pull the compensator sprocket from the motor, the clutch hub from the main shaft, and the final drive sprocket. Then you need a trap door puller to get the gear set out. If you don't have the tools you may spend 5-$700 just to tear it apart. This is not a project for just anyone.
We remove and reinstall in about 6 hours. However we have all the tools and have done a lot of them. How long it takes you would depend on your ability, tools available and working conditions. The Ultima 6-speeds have become a very good product, they like all other manufacturers had some teething problems but they are long gone now.

Inner primay bearing race puller, $133 (or just cut it off with a dremel tool or die grinder).
Pulley nut socket, $82.
Georges garage tools.
Not an overly difficult job, make sure you have room to work, and bag and label all your parts as you remove them.
Read over the process in the service manual a few times before you start the job.
Plenty of help here on the forum if you encounter a problem.
This is a good job to know how to do.

What would the labor charge be for the install? I'm not sure yet if this is something I want to do myself. I am just starting to look at my options.
Since you have done a lot of them do you think they are worth the price to do or would money be better spent elsewhere on the bike. Just so you know motor has 25000 miles on it and a stage one kit, other than that it is stock
If you do a lot of highway riding, and Pa. is pretty flat where you ride then you will probably enjoy it. Your neighborhood shop should charge you around six hours labor, plus fluids, etc. The time could be an hour or two more depending on their familiarity with transmissions. You may also want to think about going one tooth smaller (31 T) on the tranny pulley. This will help the bike launch and still give you a decent amount of overdrive for a stage 1 engine. I would put a note of caution into the mix. I have a 103" 2011 FLTRX which comes with a 6 speed and I found that I had a lot of shifting into 5th gear to pass quickly or climb any hill moderately steep...
This was much worse with a 96" stock motor. When I put a set of SE 255 cams into my 103 I had 92hp and 109tq, the shifting down became a non issue, unless it was to get beyond hyper legal speeds, right now!!!
I guess to put it simply, unless U get more power, the 6 speed is a waste of your money, in my opinion, that money would be better spent on suspension upgrades to allow it to handle our roads with feedback and much better ride in general.
