Default Is the cam still good?

Just got the cam cover off my stock 70,000 mile 1991 FLTC to replace original lifters. I am replacing with the Harley "B" lifters. The stock lifters have no wear at rollers or bearings and the stock cam looks good with smooth lobes, however some of shine is off lobes were lifter rollers run. I want to use a stock cam, since there is no wear on original lifter rollers and no scratches on stock cam lobes, can I safetly reuse this original stock cam with confidence of reliability or should I replace the cam? Thanks!!

I've put new lifters on my old cam at about 60,000. I'm almost to 100,000 without any cam problems. I got the bike at 59,000, as far as I know it is the original cam, I'm the 3rd owner and know the history of the bike. I'd say go for it.

The shine will go over the miles, its when the hardening flakes off that you need to replace the cam.

From what your describing, your OEM cam is just fine.

If I was at that point I'd be certain to put in the new lifters, and I'd upgrade the stock cam. You don't have to go for a drag racing cam but the stock has a lot of limitations to meet the EPA's requirements. That stock came restricts a lot of power!

I am installing new Harley "B" lifters. Don't want to change cam are stock non adjustable push rods since I use bike strictly for touring and looking for reliability only. The lifters are way past changing at 70,000 miles and I believe one of lifters is slightly decompressing at 2,400 and up rpm. I guess the hydralic part of the lifter can wear out, even if rollers and bearings are still tight. Got everything out, getting ready to pull the cam bearing. It has a Torrington, but I am going to change out with new Torrington while in this far.
