Default ring end gap for wisecos?

anyone know?

i got my pistons and jugs back from local indy and instructions in wiseco kit doesn't say what the end gaps should be for both rings

from everywhere i've looked online, seems like it ought to be perfect at .015

formula is at .004 X each inch of bore, as i understand it according to Wiseco

therefore, at .020 over bore (3.518) X .004 = 0.014072 (gap therefore can't be below .014, so would have to come in at .015

can anyone confirm?

You should have no problems at .015" if you break it in right.

ah!...thanks john.... i'm sure my indy checked them anyway, but can't hurt to get in there with a second set of eyes

now, breaking it in right would mean stay below 3Krpm for at least 2k miles?

wow!...now THAT is interesting

i've heard this before from other riders but never gave it much thought thinking that they were just adhering to some myth

apparently it's true, though

john, chime in here?

I did the same thing with my subaru (built 2.0L engine, headwork, cams, giant turbo, etc etc). did the 20min high-idle breakin (spec from Crower for the cams), took it down the road and immediately romped the crap out of it (at that point i was without the car for almost 4 months, couldnt wait anymore lol)

i'll do the same with the bike. Probably a 20-30mile ride to REALLY get everything warm, and flog it for all shes worth on the way home.
