Eastern,
I would however I bought this from a local dealership sort of, they buy and resell bikes. I have no way of getting that history on the bike. I am still discovering things about it that I didn't previously know.

Check for an intake leak. Maybe the ECM is compensating for a lean condition and dumping fuel in. That would account for running OK, having a decent plug burn, and getting crappy mileage.

Power Commanders can and do fail.
Another option is to bypass/remove PC and see what you get.

Just a thought.

In addition that 97 RK i mentioned in the other thread is also MM injected and the intake seals were shot. Replaced them the other day.

From your picture you have stock black injectors. I've worked on a bunch MM bikes and never had much success with any kind of mods with these injectors. They are barely adequate for stock set ups. Way I see it, you have a couple options. Leave as is and have it dynoed. However it's difficult to write changes on a stock MM ECM. You can buy an S&S (best ECM for MM) but your just limited with those injectors. Option #2 find out what cam is and preferably install EV27 and flash MM ECM with red injectors. Option #3 for best performance for mild MM bike without other mods. Buy Harley service ECM (I have part # but not me) which is an S&S ECM, get red injectors, EV27 an download Harley stage II map. The final dyno will put you on the money. Finally since it runs good, although from previous posts it shouldn't if the tune is far off, and spend gas dollars and run it. Recap, you really need to find out what cam you have before you can proceed. Hope this helps.

You state that you have a power commander 2 installed.
The power commander "2" is a much older model,a retired fuel adder (more current is PCV).
If you do not have the program disc and cable you will need to:
#1 go to this link http://www.powercommander.com/powerc...s/Default.aspx
and download the power commander II stuff.
#2 you will need a cable..try tiger direct link http://www.tigerdirect.com/
Sabrent 6 Ft USB 2.0 to Serial DB9 Adapter w/ Male Thumbscrews Item#: M501-1210 | Model#: SBT-USC6K
You will need that cable or similar.
#3 Alternatively you will need a very old computer ( a fossil ) that has a 9 pin connector and then a male / female 9 pin connector.
Reason:
We have no clue what is the set-up/map is installed.
BUT unless someone was a major jerk i doubt that they maxed any tables since you state the bike runs well.
If you would like to just do a simple test try:
press all three buttons on PCII and hold while switching power on. keep Engine off, keep run switch on.
now release the three buttons
now you can press each button range low, mid, high and each led represents 4% change in the unit. Tapping adds and holding suntracts values..place all at (0)
when done step away for 30 seconds and wait for LED to drop to lowest position.
Test by looking at light while twisting throttle (led moves)
If you waited more than 10 seconds between touching a button start all over because it loops out of programing..
Turn power off.
Wait a minute and start bike.
Look at movement of led and test drive.
I am going to throw some dice and guess someone thought it would be nice to max the high range..You would not notice it on the plugs and you would probably not notice the smoke since you would be rolling rather quickly and bike would run fine and drink a lot of fuel at anything past mid-range or anytime you gun the throttle.
Let us know how the test goes..

There is a lot of information here. A bit to digest and move forward on. I really appreciate all of this information. Would I want to talk to service if I called a local dealer? Or could a certified Harley repair shop also be able to have access to this information?

You can try Central Texas and Cowboy and see if they have any service records. I doubt either would want to actually work on a MM equipped bike. I'd try Pig Pen Cycles in Leander. Best indie around right now, from what I hear.

Stage 2 has red injectors so that isn't installed and don't need to call a dealer.

Simplified, Mmarm300 and Shovel with option 1 are pointing you in a direction, PC2 is primative but will hold a dyno tune, spend $250-$300 on a dyno tune and ride it knowing afr's are proper with good fuel economy and not going to burn a piston with guessing. Don't spend mega bucks tuning a 68hp engine and keep it simple or you will need to start understanding all of information listed, it is proven that you have enough fuel delivery by a current rich condition and just needs dialed in.

if you're interested, i've got my take-off TB (with the red injectors already installed).

knowing what cam you've got would be good though. you could always pull the cam chest and take a peek. mine had an SE-3 in it when I got it (HD factory "stage2" kit). basically identical to an EV27. if it's an SE-3/EV27, Ive got an 98 ECM too (with the HD stage2 tune already loaded on it)
