Have yet to put the second relay in my 98 WG, so have been relying on the button on the starter to kick her over a couple times when cold. After a couple turns she will usually start from the starter switch on the handlebar.
I was wondering if I should install this, and add a second wire from #30 to the starter; add a separate relay for the starter; or just forget the whole thing and use the button on the solenoid.
That is the same thing as the crane booster relay. You might want to check with Digger to be sure but I think you can simply run a jumper from the battery to pin 30 on your starter relay. I don't think you will have to add the additional relay.
I can't begin to say what a rookie move I made but I did. Anyway, where is the starter relay located on a 1992 Heritage softail? I tapped into the wrong relay( shotgun shock relay) Mike

+1 My 93' has it placed around the same spot. The hole of the relay is fixed with a screw where the arrow signs (this isn't my bike, just captured a picture from FixMyHog battery section to show it. I erased the other connections on the picture becase I haven´t anything else related there)
I imagine Texas´ connections would look something like this... am I right, Texas?
I just purchased my first Harley a 95 dyna wide glide and I have the dreaded click also. I got the battery tested its good the bike has a brand new starter. I took tester on the single spade wire that god to the solenoid and it lights up when I hit the starter button. I then took off the cover on the solenoid and pushed the plunger in manually and the bike started. I've been thinking I need to hook up the second solenoid to get it working right. Also for some reason my turn signals stopped working

I don't think you need a second relay. You should only have to run a fused jumper from the battery to post 30 on your starter relay. (D1gger listed which bikes need what in an above post)
As for your turn signals are you getting power to them if not start with your flasher.
Electrical can be a pain to chase down.

thanks. on my list of things to play with on a rainy day.
Ok, I thought that fixed my problem but it didnt? I seem to have a issue a bit different? First I added a direct power line from the battery to the relay #30 terminal and this seem to work for 3 days no problems. Now when I go out in the AM to start the bike( in the garage) I hit the starter and nothing at all, not even a click like before. If I take a jumper wire and run it from the + cable post on the starter to the selonoid it starts the bike right up. I than drive it around and turn the bike off and hit the starter and it starts right up. I can do this all day and the bike will start with the start button, never a problem at all. I can even let the bike sit for 4 hrs and it will still start.
Now if the bike sits all night and I try to hit the starter button, nothing at all, not even a click, light dim, nothing at all? Take my small jumper wire out and the bike starts. If i even turn the bike off right after that and use the starter button it works?
