Nice job!
But I do have a question: Why was it a salvage title if it was pretty straight to begin with?

It's actually amazing how little damage it takes for the insurance companies to total an HD. You can usually score a great deal on them as well. If you're not concerned with it's resale value, it's a good way to end up with more bike than you could have otherwise afforded.

Thanks guys. It was written up by the insurance company for forks, tank, bars etc. Like the lower legs had a tiny scratch. I just filled and powder coated. I was changing the bars anyways. The tank was the biggest expense. Actually i probably spent more on hardware than anything else. Took me a whole year. I still have to get it titlied. That should be interesting. Keep you posted.

As of today......no more riding dirty. Went through the salvage inspection with the state police......pretty smooth, time consuming though. There are limited insp stations. I showed up to one with my bike on the trailer at 8am and there was a line of cars infront of me that were there from the day before. I went to another station couple days later that i was in and out in about 4hrs. Two trips to registry. One to change ct title to mass $50. Sales tax $80. Another trip to re-title as re-constructed $75. Then $20 to register and get plate. Im ready.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to go with the Daymaker LED too. They do fit the newer Sportster buckets being that they're deeper than our FXR buckets. Fortunately I still have the Sportster bucket from my past 2006 XL. I held it up to the FXR bucket just to see the difference and it is quite a bit deeper. I haven't tried to actually fit it yet, but I can't visually see any reason it wouldn't work.

I thought they both just had about a 3/8" hole in the bucket for the wiring harness to go into. Both use the H4 connector. I'll take a better look when I'm back at the shop.
