Default sounds like the committee in my head

The much appreciated comments above sound like the committee in my head which has been parroting the comments for the last few days. I am leaning towards rebuild on my own but only if I can get a flywheel with at least a 4 1/2 stroke and I can find someone to repair the case and install the flywheel with my help for a decent price. Other wise the price of the remans are luring, while the used motors are absolutely a firm distraction for me. I am going to decide probably over the weekend and let everyone know.

Thanks again people You are a valuable resource.

Get a used motor. Yep yours can be welded and rebuilt ........but can u say for sure you have the tools and knowledge too do it no problem 100%?
If you have to rely on others to do piece meal work FORGET IT!
I get it all the time building street rods. Everybody can build a small block chevy till they do it and it seizes up in 20 miles. 3000 bucks and they toss it. I buy new for 2800. and its done in 6 hours.
Same with harley motors..everybody is and expert till its time too get it done.......If you cant do it 100% yourself forget it... Lots of good used EVO low mileage stuff out there. Sounds like you really have nothing left of a motor anyway...chalk it up too learning and toss it or sell it to the expert engine builders.

another poster talked about all of this low mile evo stuff around----------------it must be just engines buried in the sand because the evo bikes are getting to be in tighter and tighter supply around here unless you want to pay the same price as 2004 and 2005 model year stuff

Around 1400-1800 FOR 22,000 TO 44,000 mile motors(saw one the other day 9,000 miles 1500 bucks). Bought the whole bike salvage for 2500. Just came across a small rev tech never run about 6 years old 1000 bucks so they are out there.
Maybe your area is dried up..east coast and west coast is full of EVO tuff... lots want the big 103-130s TC motors so little motors not that popular with the gold chainer crowd. I suspect with economy in the crapper stuff will be even cheaper.

any evo running bike that hits craigslist in this area will have 20 calls within 3 hrs of the add hitting. They are bringing high book and selling fast, the only thing that isnt is the early fuel injected bikes but they are eventually selling at usually in the mid range of book.A friend stuck his 91 on today its a ultra that belonged to his dad who was in his late 70s and had been dropped on both sides multiple times. He had calls from 22 states in less than 5 hrs----------------it blew my 4500$ offer right out of the water lol.Bike is going to fla for 6100$
