V-Thunders are good cams, the 3020 is close to the same numbers as a Woods W6 but lobes are less squared off which might be not as strong as the W6 but has manors of being easier on the valve train and lifters.

Breaking down it's numbers, 42 intake closing would need a little more compression than stock to be effiecient and 240 duration would make it low thru midrange cam more targeted for a bagger with compression. If no mods done at all to a engine, it would still be a positive in a light bike over a stock cam because it wouldn't have to overcome the weight of a large barge. Overall a good bolt in cam, keep digging and see if a set of pistons for it pops up out of the corner!

i don't know why i bought this thing... i think it was a toss-up between this and the ev-27 i have in there, now

i do have head work and wiseco's... running around 9.8:1

i'm thinking the reason why i didn't put it in is because it comes on a little late, from what i've just read

...91 springer, btw

Ya a EV27 will come in sooner than the 3020, EV 27 also has steeper ramps over the 3020 for a slight more giddy up like the Woods design. 3020 might go alittle deeper in the R's but not that noticable but still a great addition to a Evo.

If you start having problems with detonation with the EV27 and current setup, the 3020's later intake closing would get you out of the problem area if needed

i've also read that too much duration on intake can adversely affect carb performance, causing it to overflow or drench the air filter... i'm guessing if intake stays open too long it can dump fuel back into carb while the piston is on it's way up for compression stroke

i've consistently had this problem off and on with the EV27 at 236... and well, the 3020 is at 240 so guessing that might be more of a problem

i remember looking for a Sifton Interstate or Jims 1361 back in the day with lower durations hoping to avoid carb problems, but couldn't find any

ultimately ended up backing off jets a bit and readjusting float to cure the fuel vomitting... lol

Usually the cause of gas back flow in the intake is exhaust reversion on a Harley, the longer duration is adding to it but exhaust sucking air back up into the cylinders is the cause, your exhaust has to be open with very little restriction to be that noticable.
