Here is a question that I have not been able to get an answer for.... What is the difference between a 1996 and a 1997 Electra glide as far as shift levers or brake petals go? I want to install an extended brake petal but they list one for an 97 and not a 96 what is the difference?

 

97 was a major frame change so many parts for a 96 will not fit

 

Have a look at the later bike and see what needs to be done to make it fit. You can't get a heel/toe conversion for a 99 Lowrider but I adapted a Shovelhead one to fit. Sometimes the differences in the parts aren't huge.

 

I put Walters extended pedal and shifters on my 96. No issue. I got them as blems from their ebay store at half price. WW3 is for 96. WW2 for 97 up.
