The only difference in the 102 versus the 84 is the pinion gear size. My BDL is an 84 tooth but it came with a new pinion gear which is simple to swap out. I looked on Primo's site and they offer both the 102 and the 84 for our bikes. If you notice the 84 comes with a 10 tooth pinion gear.

Also I was looking at the Brute 3 extreme enclosed on their site. If I am wrong on my comments above hopefully someone will correct me!!!

The main thing is to make sure the starter pinion gear and the ring gear match up. That is all that matters. If in doubt give Primo a call but I think you are fine either way. One way just means you have to swap the pinion gear.

Not really. It is a little more jerky if that makes sense. There is no compensator like on a chain but i like it. very solid feel. But for me I had so many issues with my chain from a bad basket to leaks I could not stop even with new gaskets that I swapped. But I have owned primo's and BDL's before so I was happy to swap. They are easy to maintain/inspect etc. But YOU MUST install them properly and align them properly and they will last. I also leave my derby and inspection covers open so it is obviously louder but I love that. One thing I will say is make sure you really clean up good before you swap. You will be amazed how much fluid will keep showing up. Also you may want to go ahead and put a new crank seal in with the spring facing IN. This will help keep oil out of the primary. And the last thing is even though these set ups are supposed to be a direct swap there is a great change you will have to grind down spots inside your covers or else it can interfere with the belt pulleys moving.
