so i got my engine back together after time-serting a cylinder stud hole... took both cylinders down just to make sure the rest were okay and to replace both head gaskets, cylinder gaskets, and to lap cylinders
anyway, do I have retime this thing? ....i have a twin-tec single fire, btw
If you didn't take the nose cone and cam sensor off you shouldn't need to re-time. If you have the twin-tec ignition you can quickly re-check the timing statically. The directions for that are the twin-tec website.
you're right... doubled checked timing and it was spot-on
i think i have a manifold leak somewhere.... runs fine with choke out, but idle doesn't rise when i know for a fact it's warmed up, but when i press it in it dies on me
i did notice that when i reinstalled the carb to manifold it was sloppy loose....didn't feel like a good snug fit at all
Pretty common. If you want to check it get it running and spray some wd-40 around the gaskets if it stumbles you'll know you need new gaskets. But honestly if the manifold is that loose now you already know what the outcome will be.
