Yes, I believe the FLHS was just a re-release of the 85 FLHTC front end, but with a windshield. Makes sense to re-use the original tooling.

Thanks Graham for the info. I'm going to check out some of the threads posted here and try to see if that fairing I had found would work (seller's local).

Local makes things so much easier! Looks as if the lighter blue of your bike is the same as my hi fi candy blue.

I started to try to convert mine over to the batwing. Painted up an outer fairing found the inner and all the gauges and lost interest. I've started watching four a tour glide fairing. I think I like it better.

my 91 flhs came with a fairing and windshield but is not the batwing style. I haven't seen others like it... not sure its original...

440brew, there are 2 types of fairings on Harleys of our era: Bat wings and the FLT frame mount. If what you have is not one or the other, then it's not an original Harley part, and regardless, the FLHS didn't come with a fairing at all, so it's not original from that aspect either. There was a windshield without a fairing. They either came with that or it was a "standard" accessory. Pics would help.

and when I say "came with" I mean when I bought it and it was not new but here it is...

When new your FLHS looked very much like a Road King, without the chrome bling! Any fairing is an add-on, like mine below.
