Default slip on exchange

Folks, I need your advise. I have a 99' FLSTC with the stock exhaust system installed. If I choose to replace the mufflers (slip-ons), do I need to remove the system all the way to the heads as the service manual suggests? I have a stock set installed with the baffles removed, which I find much to loud. Thanks in advance!!

You can fit slip-ons without removing the headers. Sometimes you may need to just loosen the headers to get the brackets lined up.

Don't worry about pulling the exhaust on an FLSTC. It's an easy bike to work with. If you have to loosen the exhaust manifold nuts make sure you put a little light oil on them first and let it soak for a little bit. If the exhaust studs back out it's not a crisis but, it's just less work if they don't.
