Haven't been around much lately, but the season is finally coming back, so here I am! LOL!
Back when I got Ruby, she was missing the **** to reset the trip meter. I got one and put on so I could keep an easy eye on the mileage. Occasionally though the clutch cable would rub against it while jockeying the bike around parking places or the garage and would mess with the trip meter's setting. After pulling out from a parking lot, I would look down and see an extra 100 or 200 miles on it that I know I didn't drive.
Tonight I pulled the **** back off and cut about 1/4" off the end of it, leaving behind an 1/8" flange and reinstalled it. Now I have just enough of an edge to reset it, but hopefully it's low profile enough now to clear the clutch cable while steering lock to lock. Time will tell...
I know, kind of a stupid little thing to be posting, but maybe someone else out there has run into the same problem and never put enough thought into it to how to fix it... LOL!
Few years ago I was in my garage and happened to notice my trip **** was MIA, it was nver real tight to begin with. After a beer or two I noticed the alarm **** on the clock radio I listen to out there looked very simimar. It was and has been seeing bike duty ever since, looks like it was made for it..
