Default 97 Bagger Evo motor

97 Evo use to run great. Now poor idel, black oil that smells like gas. Head job rings or both. Maybe something cheaper?

Sounds like an EFI issue. Temp sender? Those seem to go out a lot. Can you pull codes?

only one way to get gas into the oil (rings), but theres gotta be something else going on along with it (ignition, plugs/wires....something...)

but as mentioned above, need model/mods/more info. a 97 evo bagger narrows it down, but not quite enough

if you have a carb check the fuel valve aka pet **** , sounds like it's leaking past the inside valve & running into the crank case , or make sure you shut it off ever time you park for more then two min

Very limited information provided in order to assist with a possible solution.
Is this a motor you found and it is sitting on a table?
Is motor in a bike?
How about a year, model of bike, miles, is this an M & M EFI motor/bike a little history, modifications ?..something to give us an idea.
*i will take a wild guess at it being an M & M EFI EVO and that the issue is the engine temp. sensor in front head and it cost about $100 and you can self test.

The Bike is a 1997 FLHTCUI it has 51,000 miles on it. I picked it up last December so I dont know the history other than it ran great up until now. Thought I had some bad gas so I pumped it out, changed the plugs, air cleaner, and ran some injector cleaner.

ET sensor will not always throw a code, but your description fits the bill.
