Valve guides don't effect compression. A bad oil ring won't effect compression either. You could even have somewhat OK compression and a broken compression ring. Bad valve guide seals are not going to cause that much oil consumption. I'm going with bad rings, oil or compression or both, on the rear cylinder. I think that if it was my bike, I would take the rear cylinder off and take a look. It isn't that big of a job, really. An afternoon's wrenchin'.
