Throttle cables-push/pull-installed wrong, I believe?
Finally put the new S & S carb on my 84 FXRS Low Glide, and the bike that was down for a year started right up. But I believe I did it wrong. Now the bike accelerates when I push on the throttle and idles when I pull (counterclockwise) on the throttle. Wrong?
In my defense I just wanted confirmation before I tear it down again.
It's been so long since I've ridden I started to convince myself that it might have been a "push" to accelerate! Getting too old I guess.
I have been fixing Harleys for years and I still double check which cable is which when reinstalling a carby.....its an easy mistake to make but if you do it twice then you will be officially an idiot
That is the Cushman motor scooter way. Funny story. My brother bought a 42 "45" Harley back in the 50's. The guy he bought it from rode it over to our house and parked it in the yard. My bothers only experience with two wheels was on Cushman scooters. Well, he got on the Harley, fired it up, and proceded to ride out of our driveway, only he turned the throttle the Cushman way and ended up accross the street in our neighbors garage. Of course I was there to witness this little goof up and never let him forget it.
