I have a streetbob and have been riding for over 20 years,i recently noticed that my hand moves the throttle when I ride over rough pavement, causing the bike to excellerate.it never happened before.i noticed it after I had the 5000 mile service done.i brought it back to the dealer and they said theres nothing wrong mechanically.is it me or could there be something wrong with the bike?

It's you. There's nothing wrong with the bike. Loosen your grip.

It's you. Relax a little no need to grip hard enough that bumps are rattling your hands. I added a throttle boss and I like it for relaxing and just using a palm to keep throttle steady

Check to see if there is a little slack in the cable. When turning the throttle just a bit, it shouldn't immediately affect the carb/throttle body. Maybe one of the things they did during your 5k service they adjusted the cable and didn't get it just right.

When I drive over rough roads I just rev it a little to keep it going but not too much you will pop a wheelie

Yeah...hitting a bump will make me"punch it" too. I really haye it. It's bad enough to hit a bump but to accelerate too, not good.

There should certainly be enough slack in the throttle cable so that, from closed, there's a fraction of an inch before the throttle starts to open. The slack is there for that exact reason - to absorb some of the movement that gets transmitted to the grips by the suspension.

Depending on the surface, that slack might be enough to take an edge off the bounces (not all the edge, just a bit of it) but you're probably going to get a bit of unintended throttle activity regardless. Kinda part of the thing with motorcycles, I guess. Keep a grip on the bars like you're holding eggs, not strangling a chicken...
