Default Tappet blocks seeping

I saw a seep on my tappet blocks and thought I had to replace my pushrod cover O rings but when I took it apart the O rings looked fine and I couldn't find a crack in the tappet block.

What else could cause a seep there?

Base Gaskets, Tappet block gaskets....did you replace the O Rings? They can look fine but still leak. The cracks are very hard to see and when you see one you won't believe it could cause a leak.

No I didn't replace the O rings yet.
The seep seems to have gotten worse when I put in Amsoil 20w-50 so I am going to try dino 50 weight and see what happens.

I put in the amsoil to combat the heat we have down here but not sure it is a good thing.

If it still leaks after the 50 weight then I will change the o rings.
I didn't know about the micro crack thing on the O rings.

Thanks for your reply spanners.

I meant the cracks in the tappet blocks are hard to see. 20-50 should stay in there OK if its not synth.

Before the Amsoil I had Castrol 20w-50 in there.

The manual says to go to a heavier oil as the ambient temp goes up so I was going to try it and see.

I looked as hard as I could with a flashlight but I couldn't see any evidence of cracking in the tappet blocks (with the pushrods in place).

You need to take the tappet blocks out because the cracks usually start from the bottom and are only visible from inside the block.

I'll let it seep.
When it starts leaking then I will replace the lifter blocks.

Yeah I know I'm kinda cheap.

THC, shot in the dark but once upon a time I "overcharged" my K&N and it started dropping. There was no sign at the air cleaner cover but gathered nicely at the tappet blocks and appeared to be a massive leak from there. It was revealed to me that it was the air cleaner once I took the cover off. Don't mean to sound like a total idiot but maybe check behind the air cleaner cover...see if there's oil. Good luck
