Hey guys, I'm talking to a guy about a 99 Heritage w/ 40k. He says it's all stock except for a "mid-range" cam the po installed and samson exhaust. He couldn't give me specs on the cam or if the bearing was replaced, but says the po was a "Harley master tech", and that he's sure it would've been top notch. Says it has no known mechanical issues, and the only thing cosmetic was when it "slid on the road" when he swerved to miss a dog, and it busted a turn signal lense. He said he f-ed his shoulder up on that spill, and needs cash for bills right now. The two pics I've seen look pretty good, and he's sending more. He's asking $6500 obo, but is over 5 hrs. away in another state.
What do you guys think? Any questions I should ask before that kind of road trip? Worth it? I would hate to make the trip just to be let down!
Yeah, I don't put much stock in the "mechanic owned" thing. I have seen a couple of pics (same angle on both) and he's supposed to send me some more. Looks pretty clean and stock so far. Definitely would want a test ride. The " slid on the road and only broke a lense" statement kinda worries me. Guess if it looks okay and it's what he says I'll just have to gamble and take the trip.
Dammit! I just paid $7500 for my 97 with 23K.....I got RIPPED!
NOT!
I was following your thread on your bike, looks like you got a nice one at a fair price, congrats! I swear I saw that bike during my searches, do you mind if ask if you found it on CL? Clean looking bike!

Yes sir! it was a craigslist find! I looked for MONTHS until I ran across it.
The guy just bought an Ultra Limited. His wife didn't want him to keep it and I could tell he was having a hard time letting it go. I felt horrible.......NOT!
On any scooter that is more than a few years old, NADA, like listings, "Internet experts", etc. mean nothing. You have to look at it up close and personal. Could be good, could be not so good. Good luck in your quest.
I paid $8000 for mine last year. It had 36,000 miles on it. It's stock and in pristine condition. It had brand new saddlebags installed. The PO found a set at a California dealer and had them shipped. Those alone are very hard to come by.
Currently, it's in great shape and very tight. No leaks/weeps anywhere.
So, if you like what you see and can afford it, buy it. This is my second 1999 FLSTC that I've owned. It will be my last bike that I sell.
