There are lots of us on here who wish our dads were still around so we could try and make them happy. Buy the bike and ride it when you visit him. Take him for a ride. Life is short. Enjoy the people around you today, tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.

I'm going through some family BS too and am estranged from the one that matters in my life, my Dad. If I had this opportunity to rekindle and hold onto a relationship with my Dad, I'd jump all over the opportunity. If you have the means to purchase the bike, do it. It will pay dividends down the road with repairing the damage between the two of you. No one stays on this earth forever - take advantage of the time you have to spend it with someone who matters in your life and have no regrets later. Just my 2 cents....
