I don't know if it's a hangover (good choice of words) from my miss spent youth but I really enjoy going for a ride to country pubs and having a beer or two... I know some will say this is irresponsible or just plain stupid but I love it......

"Country" pub (bar) has a decidedly different meaning than what you are referring to here in the deep south, especially in my "neck o' the woods". They mostly consist of sexually repressed, under-educated hicks ( no offense to any hicks on the board). Not my cup of tea, mate.
once i start, i have a hard time stopping after a couple of drinks. i try and save my drinking for the end of the day and the ride. i generally find my self pushing 100 a few times during most of my rides...getting stopped for speeding with alcohol on your breath could lead to big problems!!
Like, "to me, that's the kind of riding that will get you thrown in jail where I live."
If I were to guess, I bet I've been in a "bar" less than 20 times in my 50 years. Just never cared for it. Besides, my driver's license is my means to make a living....wouldn't risk it.
Now, set me up with a frosty glass of..........seafoam...............never mind
I look forward to it, there is a place in Amish country that is remote and at the edge of a state forest with no business sign. It is a old gas station that the front is a small store with a deli and the back is a bar with 4 tables and 9 chairs. I take people out to this place on rides and they always want to go back, it represents simple times, country life, good people and yes the beer is cold.

So when they are buying us beer at these country bars, they are really thinking "you sure gotta a pretty mouth boy" never looked at it like that! dammit! Glad I'm 6'3" and 280 in these situations but I will gladly offer one of my smaller friends
