Shocks question
I posted the question below in the Touring section, this is probably a better forum-section for this question.
I have a 1990 FLHTCU and was considering buying & installing some shocks from a Street Glide. I've noticed that some vendors state '97 & newer for the air assist shocks they are selling.
All the Street Glide touring shocks look pretty standard, is there any reason I cannot put the Street Glide shocks on my ride or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Progressive Suspension is pretty good. I have a set on the rear of my 95 Heritage. Why are trying to find shocks for a Street Glide? Why not look them up for your specific bike unless you are planning on buying take offs?
Here is what Progressive Suspension shows of your bike. You will notice there are many different options here. What is standard is highlighted in yellow:

Obviously, the prices on progressive's site are going to be inflated and you can find a better price many other places, but at least you can use this to learn about the options and figure out the part number you need.

I am just looking to lower the bike an inch or so which is why I am looking at these shocks. I don't want to spend the cabbage on progressives right now, and I want to keep the air assist. I'm pretty certain the FLHX shocks will work for my bike, just throwing it out to the forum to see if anyone else has done it.
be very carefull with a lowering kit and the street glide shocks it looks very cool but the bags are sorta squished so you hafta cut the fiberglass out and make more room if u don't the bag splits trust me been there done that.

How low did the lowering kit go before you had an issue, 1 or 2 inches?
Lowering kits put too much stress on the swingarm and will cause them to crack and or break.
Too bad you want to stay with HD air shocks. You will never know how much better your bike will be.

Well that's quite a tease so I'll bite. What can we do to make our FL's much better, shock wise?
