Cant remove gas cap
I had mine do that to me when I was out of town. I ended up getting some pliers and got it off that way. Mine was "locked" on and wouldn't turn either way. I don't know if I clicked to locked it 1-2 times too many but it was scary. I had to ask a few people before I got the pliers.
Thanks for the input guys
I am aware of the LH thread on the left side. I did manage to get the thing unscrewed. I got looking at the other cap, and realized that some of the plastic thread was visable, So I took a old leather belt and sliced a strip about 3/16 wide and wrapped it around the plastic thead, and it worked great. I suppose a shoe lace my have worked as well, but the ones I had were to slippery, and wouldn't bite. The leather strip got it off. These caps have a lot of years on them, so I will order a new set.

Question?
Is it the rubber gaskets keep the caps from rattling? Seems many have rattling caps, including me! Just wondering if that would be the cure?
No they don't cure the rattle.
I cured the rattle by putting my gas caps in a vice and squeezed them down on the ratcheting part.
Oh man, do I ever feel stupid. Have two Harleys with dual caps, tried getting the left off one once for some reason, wouldn't budge, figured wth, some day I'd pull the tank for something, worry about it then. Never thought of left hand thread - just tried it, and came right off. Guess I've never tried to open the Glide's left side. Never heard of that before. Thanks guys, for teaching an old dog a new trick.
