i have run them for a few years first with new pipes and a/c and it did seem to cure the poping on decel the bike now has cams pistons and head work i still run the torque cones no scientific proof that they are of any benefit but my common sense says leave them installed
They work if you are using an open exhaust of some type. Either straight drag pipes and even some of the early Screaming Eagle pipes.
I had to install them on my wife's '85 FXEF to prevent a flat spot in acceleration and popping in the exhaust on deceleration. This aids in tuning the carb. As you may know the backfiring through the carb or pipes are two of the "tells" on what to/how adjust the idle mixture screw.
Anyway they are cheap enough, get the ones from Dennis Kirk they use to be the least expensive. Mine disappeared when I sent the engine in for HD overhaul.
I would run the big city baffles way before the cones , had the BCB's in my 03 E Glide wow great power & sound over the cones ,I ran the true dules & gutted 3in stock Mufflers / 3 in straight pipes , a buddy made his muffles like mine & put the cones in what a difference in power & sound , so he ordered the BCB;s
