Default Lower Legs??

I am planning to make the change to chrome lower legs on my 94 Heritage.
Question is do I want to do it myself or drop them off with the local indie.
Special tools? Watched a video and of course everything went like clock work.
What can I really expect for an aggrevation factor?
Any tricks you all can share?
I will add that the last set I did myself was on a 69 Bonneville 40+ years ago.
Have manual and parts book so thats not an issue.

Thanks,
Bucaman

Don't chrome them....polish them while they're still on the bike...polished ali looks better than chrome IMO

I hear you but I can relate to the threads from the other day about polishing. I took a run at mine not long ago and I can relate to whoever said it is easy to loose your heart. I got one looking half way decent but lost my enthusiasm on the second. They were in really rough shape when I bought the bike. may have never seen polish.
I may take another run at it but I really think I am commited to chrome.

Actually, they're correctly called the "sliders", because, well, because they are the part that "slides."

Lower legs is what we called them 25 years ago...why? I don't know, but it is what it is....but just polish them and you'll be pleased with the effort and it's not that bad, certainly cheaper !!

I agree, chrome is the way to go. You can get the aluminum looking good but iit does not stay that way. Chrome looks good and does not take much to stay that way for years. They are all over ebay for 150 bucks or so..
