Come on guys, tell him the truth, not what you tell your wives.
Well I told my wife very very little of what actually went on in my engine rebuild...but I did tell her that it is cheaper to do it now before it does let go !!!
On a serious note, weeping base gaskets is nothing to worry about, as they say " ride it then wipe it "
If ya decided to get in there and replace the gaskets, there's a fix for the Evo weeping gaskets. I'll see if I can dig it out of my archives for ya and post it up or PM me. It's called a "Hayden Dowell" or something like that. I have a few wrench friends that always do this fix anytime they have Evo jugs off the bike...
You can probably Google it or bounce out to the Hayden website too...

Was an honest question.......thanks for the one or two helpful posts.....still would like to know though if it's something that is likey to get progressively worse......slow process or need to be concerned if going a long trip?

Pretty sure everyone was just ribbing you a little!
You will be fine, nothing serious will happen from taking a trip.

It may or may not get worse but it still won't be an issue, use Dino oil instead of synthetic that helps and sometimes cures the leak. Serious

Obviously you weren't at Woodstock.........
James gaskets will fix it too but in answer to your question, they don't usually let go all of a sudden, it very gradually gets worse over a period of many hundreds if not thousands of miles.....unless you don't have gremlin bell, in which case you'd better sell it and buy a Twin Cam real soon

I had to show and tell my wife everything... that's alright though.
