Default Back rest problems

Bought a`98 Roadking late last season and it had mounts on it for a detatchable passenger back rest. Over the winter I picked up a factory back rest with a luggage rack. I put it on the bike and it needs to move back about 2 1/2"- 3". Whats up with these mounts? I can move the rear one to a differant spot, but the front don't have the options.

That is how a friend of mines sits too. Seems to far up the seat but his wife says it's very comfortable .

Look at the seat profile near the back rest.....her butt needs to in the dip and not up on the back of it....which is why it sits as it does... I use an RK seat and backrest for long 2-up trips on my Lowrider and its set up pretty much the same as yours.
