Called two locals. One refused to take the races out said they have the tool and won't do it. Other will do it for $40 said that's minimum charge. Sound reasonable to remove races?

That is like a half hour charge for 10 minutes of work.
20 minutes to remove/replace both races.
Went there. Said he had usa timkens in stock with seals. He knocked the bearings out in 5 minutes only had china drag specialties so didn't buy them. Got a can of engine brightener and $37 total. Not a great deal but they are out and I can get the new ones in. Next time I'll have the tool and do it myself.
If you were stubborn like some I know they kept at trying to knock them out for a day and a half. Finally had them removed but I immediately ordered a set of race removal tools and a blind hole puller. I wish I would have stepped back and paid the 40 bucks to remove them. Sometimes determination and drive that get you to the places you want in life also deal you bad hands.
Timkens came in last night. Any tricks to reassembly? I'm going to set end play at .004, pack and assemble and torque to 60 ft pounds with loctite on the axle nut. Is there a torque for the pinch bolt on the other side? Didn't see one in service manual. I'm going to use greengrease brand grease. To drive the new races in I assume I'll use a socket if I have one. Anything else you've used that works well? The tool hasn't come in yet. Let me know if I'm missing anything thanks

Front axel 50 foot pounds and slider cap nuts 9-13 foot pounds.
That is for a softail but I doubt it is different for your bike
Someone else needs to chime in here but I would not use loctite. I have never seen that here. The back should have a retainer and if the front does not, it doesn't need one.

Front does not have a cotter pin. It has a lock washer only. I don't want it coming off going down the road!
