Nope, not an insult. Lollipops are an easy way to tune open pipes, and if you want, you can easily open them all the way back up to get the full benefit on top end. Check out this site:
Nope, not an insult. Lollipops are an easy way to tune open pipes, and if you want, you can easily open them all the way back up to get the full benefit on top end. Check out this site: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/exhaust.htm My pipes are stepped and have no baffles, so the bike ran decently, but adding the lollipops helped with the mid range.
Well I'll be damned!!!! I was just gonna jet my carb! I come from mostly efi bikes..... I've had a number of mikuni carbs, but never heard this one. Gonna give it a rip
I know it made a big difference for me after rejetting, but i'm running an old butterfly carb with no separate midrange circuit. Hopefully you have the same luck.
I'll run it first, and see how it comes out. The exhaust will be here Monday, so I took some time today to get the bike squared away..... New bleeders, flushed the brakes (nasty), new brake hardware, pulled the stock exhaust in prep for the new ones. I just bought the bike last weekend, and it had a few problems. It's ugly as hell, but runs good...... Perfect for me, as I said, it's my beater. Should be a cheap, low budget bobber.
Cool. Yeah, i just looked at mine today and realized I actually only have the lollipops at about 10 deg. Setting them at 45 deg limited my top end too much. But i also used a much bigger washer since my pipes are 2 1/2". Even the small profile of the washer at that angle though makes a difference on low end. I had read some info on just sticking a 1/4" bolt across the center of the pipe to break the reversion (or whatever it's called from the sound waves). I think just doing this on mine would have been enough.
I ran them on an old softail custom I used to own, & I put the lollipops in them as well. They lived up to their name 'big growl'.....they were really LOUD and when you let off the throttle, they growled like a rabid mother%$@$# !!!
