One other thing I thought I should mention. If you go with the duals you will need an angled shift linkage to clear the rear pipe. They are available through Samson or sometimes you can find them on EBay.

is this what you mean by "angles shift linkage"? mine goes back low and angles UP to the tranny. i wonder with the samson duals if you have to move the coil?? doesn't look like there is much room for a pipe to come thru there. the v&h big shots are looking better and better. i don't see a 2-1 system that appeals to me looks wise!

I have been running true duals for a couple of years and they are easy to mount.

Agreed. I think 2-1/2 is the way to go, just looks good on these bikes. And V&H seems to have about the best price, especially for longer pipes. Very seldom a set of porker pipes will pop up on ebay, that's what I have on mine. For reference:
I had a set of Vance & Hines big shot longs and loved the sound of them. I just wanted something with more of a retro look to it. Just wish these Kerkers sounded as good.
My dad has to Samson true duals with fishtails on his 96 heritage. I don't think they rumble and drilling out the frame was no small task. I've had Porker Performance, Patriot Defender (shorty 2-1) ((did not like the look)) and VH Long Shots. I like the look and sound of the long shots. I ran mine without baffles for a long time until I dyno'd it last year and the speed tech said I'd get lots more out of it if I put the baffles back in so I did and it's still plenty loud...and pulls a lot harder.
Get on JP Cycles and start looking at those pics! When you find what you're looking for, it will hit you. The one 2-1 that I love but they don't make anymore is Roadhouse Classic. Company went out of biz 4 years ago or so and you can't find em anywhere. Good luck...you'll get it!
