I had TDs on my Glide for a while, then swapped to a 2-into-1, with the bike dyno tuned with both systems, by the same shop. The headline numbers are very close to each other, however the main difference is up to 15% more low/mid range torque, with the 2-into-1. The bike is also much smoother running and altogether a nicer ride.
You never had "TD's" anything on Hyacinth....... BWAAAAAAAAAAA!
For a couple of decades we would go up to the Cherokee reservation, get a hotel room, and ride all over the mountains there, Deals Gap, Fontana, The Great Smokies, Blue Ridge Parkway, Maggie Valley, Murphy, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, etc.. I love it up there. Some of the best roads on planet earth.

True, except for the smell of burning car brakes........
Everyone said to be careful on "The Tail", but luckily it was an easy going ride for me. I guess that's because it was off season and the weather was less than perfect, I seemed to have the entire road to myself. I comfortably putted along on the wet road at 15 or 20 miles per hour most of the way and just took in the views.
I've road it many times. The problem with the Dragon is all the sport bikes running you over if you are putting along. That to me, makes it dangerous. Like you, when the weather is bad...cold and raining, usually is the best time to ride it.
The Dragon isn't my favorite ride, not even close. The ride from Cherokee around the Fontana lake to the dam is way better. Cades Cove is an amazingly beautiful ride.
i had the Arlen ness big sucker aircleaner kit put on at the same time as the pipes, vefore that the bike was completely stock apart from SE slip on mufflers, So Performance went up for me
They had a "Lot Party" at my local H.D. dealer and had $10 Dyno runs, so I figured what the hell... Had em' put the bike on the machine and run it thru the gears. Needless to say I was really happy with the results. This bike has about 56,000 miles on it and other than the Screaming Eagle Breather kit and (I think) Screaming Eagle Fish Tail Mufflers.
