Default New Ultima Ignition up grade

Thought I would give my review on the new Ultima ignition. I believe it is a plus for Hi compression engines [10.1+], Defiantly better than the old Dyna S but the D.S. did run strong.
The install was, Ultima/Dyna 2ki ignition, Dyna single fire coil, VOES 5 lb.
Static timing was checked.
Cold starts almost before you can push the button and no choke needed for cold idle. EV27 Cam sounds a bit more radical but pretty smooth on take off with less throttle for desired results. Powering thru the gears is smoother and gets you to 90 right now quick. I set my carb slightly rich and rode about 190 miles thru the mountains getting 47 Mpg and I do have a slightly heavy throttle hand. I set the ignition at the 3rd power curve because of my +10.1 cr with the EV27 and shaved heads.
IMHO, Hi compression bikes would have the most to gain from an adj. ignition.

Thanks Dog. I had to sell my canoe, air rifle, old gas tank and kidney to fund this venture but they were just sitting around anyway. Think Im done with my build for now and happy with out come.

Thanks Schex, not bad for an 18 yr old bike. I would like to say thanks for everyone's input the past year on putting this old WG together.

Actually you WG is nicer IMO.

Mine's pretty much stock. Just trying to get it all sorted out since I picked it up in October.

Thumbs up

My only complaint with the ultima ignition is that it does not have a kick start mode. Without kickstart mode my 127 likes to fire right away and kick back against the starter starter gear ect... on my 3rd combo starter gear / starter ring . and 2nd starter. I think its dialed now with the 66 tooth 1.7 starter 450cc battery and 2 negatives... Time will tell.
