My fluids and filter should be coming in today. I need to adjust my clutch while I have everything opened up.
As someone who doesn't know what he's doing (and yes, I have the FSM), what are the "push rods" and how do you know when they are "lightly seated"? Question #2, do you back it out 1/2 turn or a full turn? Question #3, is there any trick to getting the cable adjusted correctly? Right now I don't believe there is any play between the cable ferrule and the clutch bracket but there IS play in the clutch lever itself...seems as if there is more play in it than when I first got the bike.
On mine here is how I do it.
Loosen cable until clutch lever hits handle bar.
Pull cover.
Loosen clutch lock nut.
Then screw clutch adjuster in with my fingers until I feel it on the clutch handle.
I then back it off 3/4 turn and lock plate nut.
Then adjust cable back to my liking at handle.

Reason: typo
I cannot answer your other questions, but i think that 1/8" play is normal and/or acceptable on the clutch side regarding the cable and ferrule.
I also think that proper clutch adjustment protocol is in the service manual with instructions step by step.
Do you have any more pics of that bike? That is an awesome looking bike...all blacked out. I'd like to pick up something very similar one of these days.

Do you mean that you screw it in until you feel something move in the handle??? Thanks!

Thanks, much appreciated.

I adjust my clutch after reading as much on this forum as I could find. You have already done that. I also watched a few You Tube videos. It was way easy after watching the video.

Thanks for the tip! I never think of youtube but that makes it look easy!
1/4 turn works better once the bike has done a few thousand miles. Always back off all the adjustment in the cable before adjusting the clutch centre....we need a sticky on this.
