I seen on website 1996 split tanks are total of 3.5 gallons. Well I filled her up came out to 3.508 gallons without reserve turned out I'm a little confused lol

I'm not sure what web site you are talking about but most stock split tanks are 4.2 gallons.
That gives you 3.5 gallons run and .7 gallons reserve.
Yea it was strange I didn't hit reserve was getting little nervous sort of anticipated the bike to **** off lol. And when I filled it it was at correct below the bung so it doesn't spill out Iol
