Help with 1990 EVO
Bought chrome lifter blocks, Ultima lifters, Untima quick change push rods.
New Torrington B138.
Bike is fast, in my opinion.
Bike has an idle similar to a B gas coupe from the 60s with an isky cam and headers. To say the idle is horrible is kind!
Opened the gear case. Cut the push rods with a bolt cutters.
Andrews EV-3 inside. Lifters look brand new, roller wheels feel solid no play no visible wear.
Came looks good, some blue discoloration just upwards for the base of the cam on both sides.
Found a Torrington B128 in side marked Torrington .
Questions: Is there any benefit to go to an EV-27 over the EV3 Would the performance gain justify the expense, moneys tight right now.
Should I pull the Torrington out and replace with a Torrington that’s not even a Torrington any more?
Bike is an FXSTC that is going Vicla style .
It had an S&S Carb and Cleaner with Vance and Hines long shots. I am the third owner. The second owner bought it in 2005, the bike had these mods, like I said runs very strong,
Not interested in bragging rights to anything, even when it comes time for a rebuild
Only going .010 over, all new bearings and a balance of the rotating assembly.
Like I said I’m not looking to get there first, as long as I get there.
No I’m not to old for this, Have raced hot rods and corvettes. Harley s are a state of being. End of story.
Your input will be appreciated, Twospeed

Your lumpy idle is probably from the carb. Check to assure the carb. is calibrated to your current exhaust system . Harley wants $20.00 each for the lifter block alighnment screws .! You can do as i did and purchase 2 1/4 /20 bevel head machine screws to do the same thing for $ 2.00.
Note : the lifter blocks must be alighned correctly and i suspect that the po didnt do this .
