Close. EFI began in 1995 in Electra glides and 1996 it was available on all touring models. The 95"-96' ECM's didn't play well with mods so in 97' HD started using ECM's that could be mapped.

I love my Evo! Love my Twinkie too! Also love my Pan! I've had 3 Shovels and loved them too. Wish I still had one of them. Hopefully I can add another shovel to the garage soon... then i'll start looking for a knuck or flattie... and a bigger garage!

The Twin Cam initially was not used in the Softail model family before the year 2000. This was due to the chassis design and vibration transfer to the Softail frame as a result of the direct (hard) mounting of the engine. Dyna models are "rubber mounted", damping the majority of vibration transfer to the frame and rider. Harley solved the issue for the Softail family by designing an engine variant known as Twin Cam 88B.[3] It is basically the same engine as the original (now called "Twin Cam 88A"), but with a modified engine block design that incorporates twin chain-driven balance shafts.[4] The Twin Cam 96B engine was released at the same time as the Twin Cam 96A model, for the 2007 model year, and is currently used on all Softail models.[5]

Sometimes I think I'd like to have a new twinkie... But those crappy bearings or lack there of... Although, are they really that bad with just a mild cam, a/c and pipes? A lot of high mileage twinks out there.
