The oil stays cooler and there are fewer moving parts (read less things to break).
The electrical system is also simpler on an evo (again less **** to go wrong).

Other than that I just don't like the way the Twincams I have ridden feel.
To me they feel more like a Honda than a Harley.
I don't dislike the TC engine, I dislike what the EPA has done to it over the years. And what the MOCO has done with cheaper and cheaper parts. The B engine I don't care for, no buzz = metric. Plus with an evo every engine fits my bike and parts are plentiful.

Plus I like that I can get 50+ mpg and she never runs over 200°.

I keep renting and trying them out, a 2013 bagger, a night train, a road king. Didn't care for them. The bagger was ok, didn't run terribly hot and had decent power.

Plus....potato, potato, potato!

I have both, best part about the twinkie is the mirrors don't shake at highway speeds, worst part about it is you cannot feel when to shift in the higher gears...

Best part about an EVO is the smile it puts on your face, worst part is that tends to get bugs in your teeth....

Ds,

I've had a TC since '04, and my '09 Fatbob is a great motorcycle in every way. Never had a single issue with either in 70,000 combined miles. They can run circles around my '92 FXR..but the FXR just feels, sounds, smells, and looks better to me. It's much simpler overall and with that comes a better connection with the machine for me. The older I've gotten less equals more when it comes to my motorcycles. It's at the heart of the whole bike.

I enjoy wrenching on my bikes. I'm a self taught mechanic with a simple set of tools. I like the feeling of knowing that I can work on it myself and have no one but me to blame if it's done wrong.

I bought an Evo over early TC because I wanted a "different" bike than the 100+ harley's that park at my work. Only 1-2 other evo's in the whole crowd.

Bought it with 45k miles and it ran perfect, but slow. I had hillside cycle do my heads, bore, 10.5-1 pistons, woods cam, 2-1 exhaust and now it's solidly in the 80HP range and sounds and runs awesome.

From what I read, the Evo is an "evolution" of the shovel, with aluminum heads, electronic ignition, less leaks, and some other improvements I forgot about.

Renting won't tell you anything as it will be a stock EPA-Neutered bike.....you need to borrow a stage 1 or 2 TC to really get the feel of them.
