I have a 94 fatboy with V&H big shots. When decelerating, the exhaust chatters. Not obvious when riding, I actually heard it when someone else was riding away from me. I got behind a wideglide with the same pipes and heard the same thing. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if it was inherent in big shots? Any suggestions on pipes that have a nice throaty sound without being too loud that do not chatter?

 

Chatter? Is your exhaust talking to you? I don't believe I've heard a chattering exhaust.

Maybe it's just back-rap...or loose nuts...I hate it when that happens. Check yer nuts.

 

Really, you should listen to mine. OK maybe that was a bad choice of words to describe the sound. It sounds like loose objects in the pipes, however, it is not. Just wanted to check if it was normal for big shots ( especially since I heard the same on another bike )

 

Gotta get those V&H owners to chime in.

Could be loose baffles too?

 

Is it "tinky" or "tunky"...

Tinky.... covers (air cleaner, horn, coil, etc) ... baffles... belt guard

Tunky.... oil bag bolts... steering head bearings...
