Default Evo motor swap?

I am looking at picking up a spare early Evo motor for my 1998 Softail to tinker around on. It is a 1985 with no primary or tranny. Will I be able to bolt my 1998 primary and tranny to it or will I have issues? Thanks a lot.

yea it swaps out with no issues --- oil pump connections and filter location are different but you can work around that

Are you having issues with your 98 engine?

What are plans for the 85? Cam , heads , stroker ect.

I'm not having any problem with my motor, just thought I'd pick up a spare motor to do a rebuild on as I've never done it. I wouldn't do anything crazy to the motor, just likely update the cam, lifters, and put in adjustable rods.

Why are you putting in adjustable pushrods?

If you just wanna pick it up for the experience then do it.

The engine cases are weaker then your 98.

Ok, thanks for the info on the weaker cases. I thought of adjustable pushrods as I heard it makes it easier to do some engine work later. I've also heard some problems with adjustable rods coming loose, so I may reconsider.
