shutting down to 1 cylinder
ok here is my problem. i was on my way home the other day when we got caught in the rain. bike would start backfiring real bad and shut down to one cylinder. when we got out of the rain it would start backfiring again and go back to normal. i changed my plug wires first because they were old and loose. i checked the coil and it was at 3.4 ohm. speck is 2.5- 3.1. a friend of mine had a good coil so i put that in. it seems to run fine im just nervous that it could be something else. let me know what you guys think. my bike is a 96 fxd with ev27 cam and alren ness bigsucker.

Almost sounds like you sucked in water through your air cleaner. Do you slather dielectric grease on your plugs? I do... I ride in the rain too much to not do it. There is a thread on here about the gasket between the backing plate and carburetor... On the crapperchRger setup I used to have, those gaskets were rotted and would let moisture in and the bike would do exactly as you described.
