Ramblin, They (HD) would prefer to sell you a new speedo with a new motorcycle wrapped around it. Planned obsolesence.

Get on Craigslist and do a search for the area/ state you live in for "Harley parts". Extend search area until you find one. They are there.

Yea, they're not in the business to make sure your Speedo works but like was said. "Can i interest you in a new 2017 Superglide"?

Well, realistically, manufacturer's can't support products forever. We're all riding stuff that's closer to a museum than a showroom.

Currently looking for a 78-82 FXE ro FXEF. I got the freaking flue for one.....

bought a 96-98 sportster speedo on flea bay, plan on doing the lcd swap, wish me luck!
