Brand new Electric cycle regulator and the 2pin male plug burnt up. I guess pretty common on the older evos. So i dont want to replace it again. Any one got an old regulator laying around that i can buy so i can cut boot off and splice?
You don't let on what model your bike is, but you may find the connector parts you need are available separately new. Take a look at one of the on-line parts websites, such as this one. However are you sure all is well with your charging system? Overheating suggests something ain't quite right!

A connector will overheat if the male pins or female recievers are not making a solid contact anymore . Over time , the connector will get hotter and hotter until it actually burns and the connection is lost completely . The connector block and wires will be melted and blackened .
If you need just a 2 wire connector block they are available at any auto. parts shop . Be sure to purchase the weatherproof type.
As grbrown has said ., you need to determine why this conn. block has overheated .
FYI... check the rubber isolater where the stator cable exits the primary case. The rubber is known to get soft due to age and the cable will begin to short . This condition will eventually take out your stator and regulator !
I will try auto zone or something. Charging system tested fine. I will replace stator this winter. The rubber female piece is all ****ed up now but i think i can get some more riding in by just splicing a new 2 pin connector on. 86 FXR. I heard it was a common problem. They loosen up and end up arcing out until they just fall apart. I just wish i didnt throw out old regulator 3 weeks ago

If you follow the advise given you will not have to replace the very expensive stator !
For more help please advise.
The rubber isolator definately needs replacing. Wasnt sure if its part of the stator or can be replaced separately? If it can be replaced then i will do that so not to cause more damage.
I will try and look that up now. Thanks for the help
Cut the regulator plug off and replace them with the correct size connectors in the link below. Use liquid pasti dip or RTV around the connectors once installed to seal up/waterproof. I did this fix in an auto parts parking lot on a trip once just to get home, and ended up leaving it like that for a couple years.
