Shifter connects at he frnt and back of motor. Two opposite connection ooints tho consider.
If it’s just a worn shifter, not a problem.
Rear lever is a tght fit to get to.
If it was the rod it self, you’d probably be stranded. So I assume it aint it

Yep..
Which is why I now look at the date of the post.

Update if you feel it necessary
In this case, there was never a resolution posted. What was the problem?
Post should have been either deleted or updated with a fix.
I once had an issue with a seased heim joint that left me straded. The fix was a better quality heim joint than what I had previously used.
Luckily it was an easy fix that didn’t require me to disassemble the primary
